为开发单原子晶体管,卡尔斯鲁厄理工学院研究人员还开发了一套全新的工艺,单原子晶体管完全由金属构成,不含半导体材料。其结果是所需电压极低,因此能耗也极低。研究人员之前制作单原子晶体管需要依靠液体电解质,现在希梅尔教授及其团队首次应用固体电解质的工作原理,通过水溶性银电解质凝胶与热解法二氧化硅凝胶电解质结合,从而改善了安全性,更便于单原子晶体管的处理。
